Owner of the Kenhorst and Exeter Dairy Queen’s, as well as, the recently open Mustang Grill, Hamid has found success and satisfaction in not only working hard to grow his business ventures, but also to give back to the community he lives and works in. He has certainly found his niche and has become a vital part of our community. Specifically in Cumru, he has been active in the past on a few of our boards and commissions, has helped support our recreational programming, and has helped support our fire departments with a number of fundraising and recruitment efforts. Ridgewood Soils was founded in 1996 with only one product-topsoil. At that time we had no office, one loader, one small screening plant, no employees, and no trucks for delivery. Within several months we were sharing a secretary/bookkeeper with another company. Today we have 8 full time and 7 part time employees.
Ridgewood has also expanded to provide standard landscape supplies and services for municipalities, homeowners, and businesses. We recycle yard waste and land clearing into mulches. We also use excess excavated soil from area construction projects in producing soils for rain gardens, retention basins, and many other types of soil projects. Our products include EP Henry pavers, seed, fabric, fertilizer, and tools that are housed in our new store, built in 2008 in the Angstadt Industrial Park along Rt. 724 and Interstate 176. We repair all makes of outdoor power tools, and our sales range from snow blowers to small Stihl chainsaws: from push mowers to large commercial mowers by Gravely and Scag.
In spite of the economic downturn of the past three years, we still employ a staff of 12-15 employees. We are also dedicated to serving the Cumru community by accepting yard waste, brush, and logs that are dropped off by residents at the Township Yard Waste Facility. We do not charge for this service, and recycle all yard waste materials into landscape products.
For the past 15 years Cumru Twp. Has been clear and fair about the procedures required for building permits, and expansion of our business. As a small business we have appreciated this approach. Ridgewood Soils Inc. is proud to be a partner with the township and community.
